How to Make a Seamless Pattern from Clipart

Seamless patterns are some of the best sellers in a clipart shop. They are used for digital paper, fabric, wrapping, and backgrounds, and they command a premium because they are trickier to make. The hard part is getting the pattern to tile perfectly with no visible seams.

How to do it

  1. Open the Seamless pattern tool.
  2. Add your elements, up to four different pieces of clipart, and arrange them.
  3. The tool builds a pattern tile that repeats cleanly, edge to edge.
  4. Export your seamless pattern, ready to sell or use as digital paper.

Tips

  • Transparent elements blend best, so remove backgrounds first.
  • Mixing a few complementary elements gives a richer, more natural-looking repeat than a single motif.

Common questions

How many elements can I combine?
Up to four, which is plenty for a varied, professional repeat.
