When SVG is the right choice
SVG is a vector format, so it scales to any size with no loss and can be recoloured. That is perfect for flat, bold, few-colour art (logos, simple icons, cut-file designs). Detailed or watercolour clipart with lots of colours and gradients does not trace cleanly, keep those as a high-resolution PNG instead.
Prepping clipart to actually sell?
Converting to SVG is one small step. If you are turning AI images into a sale-ready pack, Clipart Prep Studio removes backgrounds, upscales to 300 DPI print size, cleans the edges, trims and renames a whole batch at once. Create a free account and your first 5 images are on us.
Common questions
- Is it really free, with no signup?
- Yes. The converter runs entirely in your browser, so you can use it here with no account. Sign up free only when you want the rest of the toolkit (background removal, upscaling, batch prep).
- What clipart converts well to SVG?
- Flat designs with a small number of solid colours convert cleanly (logos, simple icons, bold shapes). Detailed, painterly or watercolour clipart with many colours and gradients does not, an SVG trace of that ends up messy, so keep those as PNG.
- Does the file leave my computer?
- No. The conversion happens locally in your browser, your image is not uploaded to a server.
- Why sell clipart as SVG?
- SVG scales to any size with no quality loss and can be recoloured, which buyers love for cutting machines and print-on-demand. It only suits flat, few-colour art though.
